Your article is nothing short of fear-mongering. You prey on uneducated people who fail to research information for themselves and instead want to rely on you because you are a Certified Nutrition Consultant. If you want to use your title to help people, then do it, but lose the fear-mongering. Some of us don’t believe people just because of the title on their articles, or even the credentials they carry. A bit of research that barely took 30 minutes and 1 visit to the isagenix website solely to see that there are 11 grams of sugar in the shake (only part of which is fructose.)
Isagenix was introduced to me by my sister who is a MLM fan and specialist. I am the antithesis of her when it comes to this but she’s my sister and I love her. She lost all her weight on Herbal-life and was a fan of that for many years. Now “Isa” is all I hear about. Suffice to say, Isagenix appeals to potential distributors for many different reasons – none of which need to be discussed here. The point is, MLM companies wouldn’t exist without distributors who are willing to follow the MLM doctrine. They are incredibly savvy at the “buy in to me” process and clearly there are millions who want to “buy in” and do.

This package that I bought called the 9-day Deep Fat Burning and Cleanse is missing two of the products that are listed for the cleanse: ISAFLUSH and IONIX SUPREME. For this price, it should have those two products as well included. If you are following their cleanse make sure to buy those products as well. It definitely works for me and I would give it more stars if the package for the 9-day included everything you need.
I too have been invited to see and read about the company and all the weight loss success on a facebook blog. I see a lot of successful weightloss, I am happy for them and impressed however no one can answer my questions about what happens after the 30 days, they boast of losing weight without any exercise but what happens when they go back to eating or do they not go back to eating,no one really says, they answered me by saying that they continue to do shakes and it’s their lifestyle now. But what about eating with family, holidays ,etc., one couple boasted how they resisted Thanksgiving dinner with family and just drank their shakes. The cost I feel is very expensive, my friend spends $400 a month and you have to pay a membership fee just to order and then they like you to auto renew every month. How does one you do isagenix and still cook for one’s family as you really can’t have your children doing these shakes. One of customers posted that she was so happy with herself as she resisted the Wendy’s french fries and burgers that she bought for her children. I didn’t get it. You also cannot order off the website you have to go through a representative. You can find some of the products on Amazon and Ebay but they are just as expensive. I think I will just stick to eating well and exercising even if it does not come off as quickly as isagenix. I am glad some of these people have found their fix to losing weight. Is it really healthy I can’t say.
What I DO care about is the use of the word “unbiased” in your title. Just because you use facts does not make an opinion “unbiased.” Facts can easily be twisted to suit your needs, see the above paragraph about fructose…. So you don’t eat fruit, ever, right? Because of the horrid fructose? Or do you eat some, in reasonable doses? My guess is the latter. How horrible for all of those people who died from eating too much fruit. Except that you said you recommend honey as a viable sugar alternative, and honey contains fructose. You shouldn’t eat honey, it contains fructose and fructose is toxic.
I still DISLIKE the fact that Isagenix is a MLM Co & do feel the products could be sold for less if the commissions weren’t being paid but it is what it is & if I want to feel this good, then I’ll continue to use them. My grocery bill has drastically dropped as I was told it would but how can I put a price tag on good health. I listen to my body & my body tells me this is a good thing. I won’t argue w/ the above posts b/c I know little about nutrition but again, I listen to what my body tells me.
This is not your ordinary milkshake. It tastes a little chalky, not as sweet, and definitely not a treat. The snacks, which we ordered in both chocolate and vanilla, aren’t bad. They’re like dense wafers or a harder version of those freeze-dried ice creams. For lunch, I had a grilled piece of tilapia and a small serving of roasted eggplant. All in all, the day wasn’t so bad, and I feel a lot lighter on my feet.
Today the marketplace is cluttered with detox diets that promise to help you lose weight, boost your energy levels and more. However, many popular detox diets, especially those that involve extreme low-calorie fasting, can rob the body of important nutrients and place the body in starvation mode, which actually slows your metabolism. Other downsides of many detox diets include: dehydration, fatigue, dizziness, nausea and even colon damage.

Toss the remaining candycanes and enjoy a zero-calorie peppermint-scented candle instead. The essential oil found in mint leaves has analgesic properties that studies show serve as a muscle-relaxant and natural remedy for headaches. Relax into your recovery by lighting a minty candle or sniffing some peppermint oil; you may actually get the added benefit of losing a bit of the weight. One study published in the Journal of Neurological and Orthopaedic Medicine found that people who sniffed peppermint every two hours lost an average of 5 pounds a month! Let a minty candle burn for a couple hours before you go to bed (blow it out before bedtime, though). And to lose even more weight, don’t miss these 42 Ways to Lose 5 Inches of Belly Fat.
A vegetarian/vegan/raw diet is one of the most nutrient deficient diets on earth, not “the healthiest.” It’s not surprising that your blood work improved after introducing Isagenix. Going from an extremely nutrient deficient diet to Isagenix does not mean Isagenix is healthy, it means that it is a step above your previous diet. Is it ideal though? No.

It’s interesting that all the weight loss magic pills and shakes all make the same claims. The latest is Thrive Le-vel. To listen to all the claims, it sounds like they’ve got the perfect pill to make you look and feel the best you ever have. These companies are all the same….they shut down one, only to slap on a new label and sell it again. Wish they would regulate supplements and what exactly is in them. Our dog and cat food is regulated better than our supplements.
I think this is about the 73rd time I’ve said this to an Isagenix supporter – using articles from Isagenix to back up your argument is illogical, biased and ridiculous. You know Monsanto has a ton of reading and studies on why GMOs are healthy. It’s in the best interest of the company to promote their products, not provide actual scientific information.
Make sure to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and at least one snack (absolutely no skipping meals!) and ensure they consist of whole, real foods only. Eating consistently throughout the day will help you lay the foundation for ongoing healthy eating. I’m talking loads of veggies, lean protein such as grass-fed steak, chicken, fish, eggs and healthy fats from nuts, seeds or olives, avocado or coconut.
Regardless of the drink or recipe you use, just be sure to stick to unprocessed ingredients. The best detox for weight loss will always require nothing more than what’s found abundantly in nature. The same holds true if you decide to use a detox supplement like Digestive Refresh. These detox drinks alone won’t give you six-pack abs, but they’ll certainly help you achieve your ideal body weight.
To be sure of bioavailability and potency, Isagenix provides ingredients either present in natural form or derived from natural food sources. We do not use any artificial or synthetic ingredients. In addition, Isagenix provides vitamins that are consistently tested for stability, purity, safety and efficacy. Each vitamin is evaluated using United States Pharmacopoeia standards or higher. They are sourced only from highly reputable suppliers with an excellent track record of meeting and exceeding cGMP guidelines.
Anyway…I was kinda excited to do it, but once I started I HATED every single day of it, especially the cleanse days. The “wafers” or whatever they called them, which was the only solid thing ingested on those days were absolutely HORRIBLE. I gagged just thinking that I had to eat them. The shakes were OK, but I had had better. I didn’t order anything extra, like soups or bars…just what came with the initial order. GROSS…everything else was so gross. I couldn’t eat the bars, the stuff they gave you to put in water was just awful.
Feel free to try to defend processed, refined and all-around crappy ingredients. I have made my stance on each of these things abundantly clear, and quite frankly i’m tired of repeating myself. If you have further questions, please refer to the approximate one million responses I’ve left to other people spouting the same false information and complete lack of logic, science and common sense that you just did. AND I MEAN THIS NICELY AND AS MOTIVATION.
Since each individual’s body is different, it is better to consult your dietitian or physician before you start this diet. Depending on current weight, medical history, current activity levels, age, genetics, etc., your dietitian will be able to customize the diet plan. Feeding your body the right foods to help burn more fat and being physically active is the best way to lose weight.

No one is asking about science based research. Dani is correct in everything she has said and my only critique would be to further back her current research by utilizing and citing additional sources backed by evidence based research. The critics on this site offer no back up of their opinions with anything more than what they have obviously bought into after some type of indoctrination into this program. As a RN and public health professional there is simply no research that supports this type of program as being ” good” for you. Any extreme reduction in calories, fasting, and eliminating real food will get you results if yyou’re looking to lose weight, however, over the long term because of the lack if research we really don’t know what type if long term effects this type of regimen may have on the body. The key here is to fully research not just the program but the ingredients and the claims any type of program makes. If you know a medical professional that you trust utilize their professional opinions. Lastly the mist credible information will be found in peer reviewed journals and publications. Be fully informed!!!!!!! One last thing…when you say that the protein is Ftom “grass fed cows grazing in the pristine lands in New Zealand” exactly HOW do you know this? Seriously. How in the world could you even verify this? HOW is that protein turned into the protein you consume in your shake? I’m sure that the process is not as “pristine” as you might think.
I came across your site because I wanted to read your reviews on Shakeology and Isagenix. I have a very good friend and a family member who use both, respectively and SWEAR by them and I am very concerned about what they really DONT KNOW about the products they’re consuming! And they are VERY intelligent individuals and super health conscious! If you’re supplements can’t help reverse your health issue…no matter what it is, i.e.: all auto-immune diseases, actually diseases of ANY kind, even cancer, then I’m not interested. I had Lupus for 5 years….I no longer have it because of what I’m doing and how I’ve changed WHAT I’m eating……especially GLUTEN….and the supplements I’m taking. I reversed my Lupus in less than 90 days and people don’t understand that you CAN reverse any health issue with REAL nutrition AND REAL supplementation.
When most think of a detox, they may envision a diet where they eat certain foods and eliminate others for a specified period of time. By the end of the detox, a person expects to feel refreshed and energized, perhaps enjoying improved clarity of mind and weight-loss. While these are noble goals, changing your diet is only one part of cellular detox. This is where cellular cleansing and my system of True Cellular Detox™ come into play.

Well, I hope I contributed to this article in some way. I’d like to say I’m unbiased, but as I stated, I’m an associate currently. People wouldn’t believe I was unbiased if I did say it. What I’m hoping is that by stating some of the facts that I’ve noted personally, good and bad, for and against, people can make more educated personal choices for themselves. And no, I don’t want your business. My email address given for this post isn’t the one linked to my associates account. I’ll do business locally if I decide to pursue it. Best wishes to ANYONE who seeks to improve their own life!

And I laugh again at the “unbiased” title. That is what dragged me to this site and after reading many of the other people reviews (and I’m not choosing to go with this produce), I choose to comment and tell you how disconnected you are with society. You can preach your lifestyle all you want in your blog and the importance of healthy eating, but when you start bashing products without proper citations of peer-reviewed articles… then I decide to voice my 1st amendment.
This celebrity-backed juice cleanse (Salma Hayek is a company co-founder) can’t be beat when it comes to convenience. After you can choose either the three- or five-day plan, everything is delivered right to your door, nationwide. But Jackie Newgent, RD, a dietitian and author of the Big Green Cookbook, says that relying exclusively on juice can cause problems with overall nutrition. “Though a natural fruit-based juice cleanse may offer some people a ‘mental’ kick start for following a diet without harm, I don’t recommend the use of cleanses,” she says. “Cleanses have never been necessary to jump-start weight loss or remove ‘toxins,’ and they never will be necessary.”
On the “cleansing days,” use the actual Isagenix cleansing product called Cleanse For Life. This product is available in either powder or liquid form and has a natural, rich berry flavor to keep your taste-buds satisfied. This product is not a diuretic, but instead it feeds and nourishes the body with over 100 different nutrients including ionic minerals, antioxidants, and cleansing herbs. Not only that, but it also boosts mental and physical performance while protecting the cells and vital organs from aging! To follow the cleansing program properly, mix 4 ounces of Cleanse For Life with 4 ounces of purified water four times a day. Additionally, it is important to take Natural Accelerator capsules (which metabolize your body fat and are packed with thermogenic ingredients like cayenne, green tea, ginseng, and cinnamon), Isagenix Snacks!, which help your digestive system, as well as IsaDelight Plus, which assists in mental clarity and helps to ease sugar cravings. Lastly, Joy advises that it’s important to drink lots of water in addition to this, so that you continue to flush the body out of all the toxins as well as possible.
It is a little sad that doctors prescribe drugs that mask symptoms and not more nutrition as a whole. I have to agree with the “air filter” analogy. We have so much junk food out there with ingredients that are engineered and not necessary and very toxic to our system, yet the FDA does nothing about them. If you look at evolution, non of these ingredients were around until chemists came up with them so we did not “evolve” to process these things. That is where I think we are toxic. Stuff like Red Bull and similar drinks are lauded for the “lifestyle” of all things daredevil, yet nobody talks against it being an incredibly toxic drink along with most other energy drinks. Doritos are still produced with MSG!!! yet nobody says anything about that, which is beyond frightening. So for me, if all the ingredients are natural I think there are other things we should be more focused on. I have tried Isagenix and for me I used it every day for Breakfast and a snack (bar form) at lunch. It helped me to be aware of what I put into my body, so now for me if it didnt come out of the ground then it is not natural is how I eat now. So for that reason I am glad I did the Isagenix. I was looking for nutrition and got an education on awareness of my health so in the end it was a good thing for me.
Corn is high in phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors. It is extremely irritating to the gut lining. The phytic acid in corn also binds to minerals like iron, magnsium, zinc, etc. and prevents them from being absorbed. This is true of all grains. This is why traditional cultures soaked and sprouted their grains, to reduce the phytic acid content. The bran is the worst part.

So don’t do that. The Zero Belly Cleanse, from my book Zero Belly Diet, provides fast weight loss while avoiding the yo-yo pitfall. First, it reduces your calorie intake slightly, without radically altering the way you eat. There’s no sudden, dramatic food restriction, just a smart 7-day dining plan. Second, it incorporates short bouts of mild exercise to up your metabolic burn, without forcing you into intense, hard-to-stick-to workouts. And third, it keeps your body fueled with clean, powerful, high-nutrient foods that will boost your health while targeting unhealthy belly fat.
There’s a big difference between small amount of naturally occurring fructose in whole foods that I recommend. There’s also a big difference between “fear mongering” and educating people who are otherwise spending their hard earned money on overly processed food byproducts that are being peddled ad health. I find lately that using facts and science to evaluate things is labeled as fear mongering. It used to just be called critical thinking.

and you guys do have a habit of replacing your CHILDREN’S meals with these shakes and bars. For that my friends 4 yr old hasn’t grown a freaking inch since he was 2! That’s her poor decision due to brain washing by her own father who is an invester for the company. Rich man just trying to make money off of ya, doesn’t even give back to the community.
The ingredients in Isagenix Cleanse for Life are known to promote weight loss and to have a cleansing effect on the body. There is some question regarding the amounts of the ingredients, and even the safety of some of them to the overall health of the consumer, but as a whole, it appears as though most consumers have found Isagenix Cleanse for Life to play a positive role in their journey to their weight loss goals.
This 9-day cleanse really lasts for 11 days. The first two days are “shake” days, which is a combination of drinking a shake for breakfast, eating a light, low-glycemic lunch, and drinking a shake for dinner. And in between you can eat Isagenix Snacks, which remind me of my dog’s vitamins, but actually have proven to be quite tasty. (But who knows, maybe I only liked the taste because I had forgotten what good food tastes like), drink lots of water, and take capsules that are meant to speed up your metabolism and give you energy.
My wife started using Isagenix about 5 months ago & not long after I noticed massive mood swings, she has lost quite a bit of weight & looks great but she now seems obsessed with losing much more weight. The mood swings & her self obsessiveness have finally taken their toll & she has now decided that she has lost the love in our relationship & has decided to leave. She knows she has changed mentally but she doesn’t believe it is from using Isagenix. I asked her to stop taking Isagenix to see if her mental state changed but she seems drawn to it like a drug & has no intention of stopping.
Hi dani! I enjoyed reading this article. I am a Isagenix user myself and i feel great using the products. I don’t want to dispute the points you make but you don’t interpret the data correctly. I encourage you to take the opportunity to tour the head quarters in chandler Arizona sometime to learn the actual facts or simply call the customer service #1-480-889-5777 with an open mind.
I follow Vani the food babe and she has a wealth of information on this, too. There’s a reason she was able to get fast food companies (chik fil a for ex) to agree to switch to certified organic chicken in the near future. It all comes down to awareness…you cannot trust a company backing their product, nor can you trust the FDA. It’s the sad truth!
HOW MUCH WEIGHT COULD YOU LOSE IN 7 DAYS? June Caron, 55, dropped 6 pounds in a week. “And the weight just keeps coming off!” In fact, she lost 15 pounds and 4 inches off her waist in 6 weeks. And Jennie Joshi, 38 (at right), lost 11 pounds and an inch off her waist. “Zero Belly is easy to follow regardless of life’s demands,” she says. Read more about the program and the remarkable results of our test panel in Zero Belly Diet.
The Isagenix diet aims to shift the body’s state from acidic to alkaline and reduce any form of inflammation existing within the body. This is achieved through two phases – cleansing the toxins from the body, and supplying it with adequate nutrients. The program helps clean out wastes and toxins from the digestive tract, improves brain health, and enhances the functioning of the immune system.
“Yen CH, Tseng YH, Kuo YW, Lee MC, Chen HL. Long-term supplementation of isomalto-oligosaccharides improved colonic microflora profile, bowel function, and blood cholesterol levels in constipated elderly people–a placebo-controlled, diet-controlled trial. Nutrition 2011;27:445-50.” If you can find a study that says this ingredient is dangerous happy to have a look. It’s been in use for decades in Japan and throughout Asia. There are no studies indicating side effects of moderate amounts only many published positive studies. It can be made from many different starch sources like wheat, barley, corn, pulses (peas, beans, lentils) oats, tapioca, rice and potato. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isomaltooligosaccharide
THANK YOU! I have several friends who are currently on this and are trying to recruit me. I have hashimotos and have had three babies in five years. I am 60lbs heavier than I was five years ago and have tried everything. I eat clean, gluten free, soy free, refined sugar free, and try to be active (even though I want to sleep my life away) and don’t seem to be getting anywhere. I am at a point of desperation and was very close to caving and trying it been though it goes against everything I believe to be healthy. This article has reiterated the things I was already telling myself. So glad I found you before I caved 😉
Hey not everyone has the ability to exercise (possibly due to any injury). So for some of us Isagenix has been a life-saver. It’s not just about the weight loss. I have never felt better in my life! And by the way, I don’t sell it, I use it for my own personal consumption. And it is gluten free!! I’m sorry everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but that’s just what it is “opinion.” Not everything is going to work for everyone, but that’s what makes the world go round! People need to make their own decisions based on their own personal needs. For me, Isagenix in conjunction with super clean eating has been the answer.
I was introduced to Isagenix by sister who is a massage therapist. She shed about 55 lbs in the course of 4 months and really kept off the weight. I was always very excited for her, but for a long while I wasn’t interested in having to do anything with Isagenix. I thought I could merely, “pull myself up from my bootstraps” and do it on my own, just by eating clean and exercising.
Now Isagenix has just announced that it has developed a formal research partnership with Skidmore College, of Saratoga Springs, New York to advance the company’s commitment to provide independent clinical validation of its products. In addition, the collaboration will increase the scientific understanding of underlying factors related to healthy weight management.

Organic Avenue sells vegetable and fruit juice cleanses that can be customized based on duration and whether you want to combine food and juice cleanses. Here again, experts are concerned that this type of cleanse deprives dieters of essential nutrients, such as fiber or protein. “Juiced fruits and veggies can provide an easy way to help you meet your daily produce needs,” Newgent says. “Enjoy them as part of a meal or as a snack, but not as a meal replacement,” she advises.

A few commenters expressed concerns about the product. One commenter said the Isagenix company representative couldn't answer questions about origin of ingredients and quality control. There have been no controlled studies. Where is the evidence? How do we know it is safe? Long-term results remain to be seen. How many can maintain this restrictive lifestyle for years? Why isn't Isagenix being regulated by the FDA? “I am a little concerned about the way some people discuss this product in almost cult-like fashion. It makes me wonder if there are mind-control drugs in this stuff.”

As you note many, many times – you are not commenting on Isagenix as a MLM or as they are as a company. You are merely doing what was asked of you and that is to review Isagenix from a holistic health coach and Certified Nutrition Consultant perspective. You pointed out, using information that came from Isagenix, its crap ingredients in some of their main products and that you, personally, would not ingest any of those particular products because of the ingredients they contained – over and out!!!

It would seem that after a day of not eating, one would be more likely to gorge on food when it was re-introduced. Not so. Evidence suggests that when intermittent fasting becomes a habit, less food is commonly eaten during normal calorie days (3). Some theories imply that this could be due to shrinking of the stomach on fast days so that you are less likely to overindulge at meal time. Along the same concept, Isagenix cleansers proclaim that Cleanse Days practically erase any previous food cravings they used to have.
I have been having issues for years no one can ever find anything wrong (all in my head) I know that I was perfectly healthy until I had my 4impacted wisdom teeth pulled.@25 years of age.. I also had a mouth full of amalgam fillings..which have been switched out over the years- not the “safe way” until I recently found out about biological dentistry.. I am having the last two removed- safely 6/11.. I stumbled on Dr.Daniel Pompa and his journey..I have always worked hard at physical fitness and eating healthy always making everything from scratch and now all organic, gluten free, sugar free-was hairdresser 34 years.. wanting to go back ( just cuts) am so sick I am struggling- was clinically diagnosed with chronic lyme( positive bans and symptom) also have huge issue with mold and chemical Sensitivities. We are getting divorced over this..
I was recently sent this article/blog/discussion by a patient. I get hundreds of “Dr. Google” articles sent to me to evaluate and frankly, I evaluate products and supplement/diet systems for a living from a physician’s and nutrition and medicine perspective. Old companies (GNC, Vitamin Shoppe/ Hebalife/Shaklee/4Life/Usana/Nuskin, etc) and new companies/products (IDLife/SilverWolf, etc) and all the “new and improved products” each produce. They all have commonalities: Most products are not new, just recombined and renamed. No one can distinguish the sourcing of ingredients just by reading the label, and it is very difficult for the consumer, let alone the self described online blogger experts to distinguish and evaluate the science and science officers of each company and product.
