The past two years has been tough for me and there’s been a lot of changes in my life. I’m going through a divorce, dealing with chronic pain and lack of medical help and working to build my business. Stress has taken its toll and unfortunately with that the weight slowly creeped up on me. I’m on two types of medication that cause weight gain so I have to be very vigilant with what I eat. I got to the point where I didn’t care anymore and just ate what I wanted when I wanted it.
One of my children takes lessons from a business pushing Isagenix as a way to increase fitness. I’m going to have to respond directly and if they push back, I’ll just provide the URL to this webpage. MLMs have always been around and will continue as long as we allow them. Kind of like cults are the price we pay for religious freedom. I think the more savvy MLMs are figuring out to jump to the next thing (as in the MD who started Isagenix) before serious analysis and critiques come out. But thanks to the Internet and angels (thank you Sequence Inc. and contributors) who will keep outing them, these snake oil salesmen will have to be faster than ever at duping unsuspecting clients. The simple fact is that “if it sounds to good to be true, it is.” And there will never be a replacement for the simple mantra from “In Defense of Food. Eat food. Mostly plants. Not too much. “
The recommendations, results and safety of cleanses vary. Extreme cleanses, such as the Master Cleanse, which has you subsist on lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper for 10 days, can leave you weak and nauseous. Still freaking out… My mental turmoil led me to a Facebook group of other Isagenix cleansers for support—some of whom started their cleanses on the same day as my fiancé and I, while most were people who go on cleanses repeatedly. (Wait, people do this more than once?) Apparently, some even do it for 30 days at a time. I don’t think I’m quite that dedicated to my body or nutritional well-being. I'm happy to report I've lost 5 pounds so far (my fiance lost 12!).

The undenatured Reserveage whey protein Dani shows in the video is a poorer copy of ingredients as used in Isagenix Whey Protein and is more expensive. Isagenix use undenatured Whey and has lactase added for digestion. Reserveage has only started in 2008 using same natural supplements as what Isagenix have been producing. How is it ethical to knock the original and promote the newcomer?


I’m immoral for highlighting the fact that people who know nothing about nutrition are often duped into buying these products that are touted as healthy when they’re anything but? For giving people the tools to recognize unhealthy ingredients in their overpriced protein shakes? Mind you – I give away all of this information for free, and I’m immoral?

I have a similar opinion to Mickhael. You need to be more considered with your use of buzz words like toxic. Moderation is absolutely the key. If you drink too much water it is toxic. Yes maltodextrin is a food additive, one that serves a useful purpose as a thickener in some processed foods. I agree that processed foods should be limited, cooking with unprocessed ingredients is definitely the way to go. But I still eat processed foods in moderation because I enjoy them, and they serve a useful purpose on many occasions. I think you need to improve your understanding of a few nutrition topics (there are many that I need to improve my understanding of also, nutrition is a relatively new science).
